Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service User Survey (Camden general practice feedback only)
Overview
Dear patient,
There is two parts to the survey.
Part one:
In part one we are asking you to give us feedback on how you find the current provision of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting services in Camden general practices. We currently provide face to face interpreting services only.
Part two:
Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is considering introducing Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) that can be used for routine appointments, dealing with admin and clinical staff in GP practices.
VRI is when all participants are in the same location and the sign language interpreter joins remotely.
We would like to capture your views about giving patients the opportunity to use Video interpreting through a screen where people need BSL interpreters for routine discussions.
Please note that face to face interpreters will still be provided if the discussion is complex.
Criteria for Complex consultation with clinical staff:
Patients will continue to be offered face to face BSL interpreters if the adult or child is vulnerable, there is a complex consultation with more than one clinician involved, the patient is unwell with mental health, to discuss organ/tissue donation or discussing bad news (e.g. severe cancer diagnosis).
Please note that your comments and views will be treated as confidenital.
Thank you for completing the survey.
